I first met Nicole about a year ago. That was before she and Keith had purchased their first home and also before they had their first child, baby Layton. Now they’re a beautiful family and I was honored that she asked me to photograph them at this special time in their lives. My goal was to capture them as they are right now. Photograph the details that make their family special. I had such a great time, and I have to admit I’m a little jealous of their back yard on the lake. Dozer was that mean looking pit bull that was the sweetest dog I’ve ever met. Here’s the Trent Family, enjoy!
Today is my Dad’s Birthday. I wanted to share a little photo and some thoughts about my dad. My father has been one of the most influential men in my life. I’m thankful that I was blessed to have a father in my life, especially one as great as my dad. I know that without my dad’s instruction and guidance I may not be the man I am today. My dad is a very frugal man, but he also taught me the value of a dollar. My dad is always joking around and playing tricks on people, but he also showed me the importance of a sense of humor. Just about every time I turn around, my dad has another crazy idea/scheme he’s thinking up, but he also encouraged me to be creative and use my imagination. My dad is the hardest working man I have ever seen. I didn’t even know what a good work ethic was until I took a look at my father. He’s worked days, nights, weekends, holidays, and everything in between to put food on the table for my family. I’m thankful for my father. Here’s to another year young, happy birthday dad!
So last weekend Leslie and I made the trip up to Nashville, TN to visit her Grandparents and have a birthday dinner for her older sister. Buford and Nell are will have been married for 60 years in July and have lived happily in there home for the last 37. While I was there Nell was determined to make sure that I left her home stuffed. I piled my plate full of some wonderful southern home cooking, but she still wanted to make sure that I had all that I could eat and then some, haha. Nell & Buford are wonderful host’s and I’m already looking forward to our next visit! Also, I can check off #18 from my goals of 2010. I tried a southern red beet for the first time…”different.”
After dinner, we decided to go outside and grab a couple shots out in the snow. Enjoy the photos!
Last weekend I had the unique opportunity to photograph the Rose family and their new addition, John. John’s is 4 months old and quite a character already. I had a really great time, such a good looking family and Baby John is one crazy cute baby. Enjoy!
Last weekend myself and a team of photographers worked together to give back to the community a little bit. We spent all morning setting up backdrops to take free family portraits for families in need. Here’s a time lapse video that was but together by Charlie Roberts, enjoy!
I’ve always really enjoyed taking family portraits. I love when I can just be in the background and capture the family as they interact together. Especially if I can meet the family at the setting of their choice. I know that if everyone is comfortable, the photos will show that. I met the Bratcher family at their backyard play gym. Little Jackson & Riley were right at home, I was just there snapping away with my camera. These were two of the most adorable siblings I’ve seen. I know that Mom and Dad will cherish these times forever, and I was honored that they asked me to photograph it. Here are just a few of my favorites from the day. Enjoy!
Monday afternoon I had the pleasure of photographing Candice and her husband Ray at one of the happiest times of their lives. They’re going to have their first child Jaycee Alice in early January. Candice and Ray had a very small intimate wedding. I had the great pleasure of photographing Candice’s bridal portraits in 2008. Candice and Ray are a super sweet couple and I have no doubt what great parents they will both make. My goal with their maternity portraits was to capture this unique time of their lives.. in a simple, natural, and intimate way. I couldn’t help but think that someday little Jaycee will be all grown up and have and opportunity to look back at these photos. That will be very cool. We met up Downtown Little Rock near the Clinton Library and this was the result. I absolutely love Fall. This season is beautiful in Arkansas. Enjoy!
I had such a great time photographing the Wiggins Family last weekend. They’re super nice people, and little Jackson was way too cute. He was just a ball of energy. Every time I lifted my camera up he would smile and excitedly yell “cheese”. We took all of the formal family photos first. The entire extended family’s group photo, then I spend some time just watching April, her husband, and her son interact. This is my favorite way to take family photos. I like to step back and just watch the family. I am looking for natural laughs, smiles, and the unexpected. I want to capture the small details. I want to photograph families as they are. This photo session was in Memphis, but I would love to meet any new families in the Little Rock area that are looking for family photos. Give me a call if I can help your family. There is still some time this Fall before it starts getting too cold.
I try to stay away from over-using photographer “hot spots” like the Old Mill in North Little Rock. I think just about every portrait photographer in Arkansas has taken pictures at the Old Mill. The problem is that it’s just way too beautiful of a location not to shoot there. There are so many flowers and greenery, set in wonderful textured rocks. When we took these, it had just rained and it was still pretty overcast. The temperature was perfect, very unlike what an Arkansas summer should be. Lauren asked me what they should wear, I told them bright colors, anything colorful and happy. I think they did a great job. I love the contrast with the colors in these pictures. I hope to do many more Mother/Daughter portraits. I had a great time with Lauren and her Mom. Thanks for giving me a call you guys. I hope you like the photos.
