Last week I met up with Patrick and Courtney. We were all watching the weather everyday leading up to their engagement portraits. Of course we were looking for the perfect weather, but this is Arkansas. : ) When we began our e-session, the sun was up and there was no chance of rain. It was only slightly overcast. That was all good though, we started knocking out some great portraits right off. Courtney and Patrick were awesome, they were having fun just enjoying each other and I was just snapping away! Towards the end of our session the weather began to change dramatically but that still didn’t stop us, we were having too much fun. I also wanted to make sure we got a couple shots on top of the Junction Bridge in the RiverMarket, this was were Patrick proposed to Courtney. We ran to the top of the bridge, braving the wind, rain, and cold. The photos right at the end turned out to be some of my favorite photos from the day, and I know they’ll be extra special to Courtney & Patrick. Lesson learned… always take that extra effort. : ) Here’s a couple photos from the session! Enjoy!
I’ve been to a few junkyards in the past looking for various parts, but this is the first time I’ve ever brought a couple to photograph. I have to say, salvage yards make for some pretty good portrait locations. Yeah, there are a few hazards and you might want to update your tetanus shot before we go, but if you’re anything like my friends Bill and Sam, you’d love the idea. Back in February when they booked with me, they said they wanted something different. Honestly this was a really fun e-session, I had a blast climbing on top of the cars and getting stuck. Thanks for helping me down, Bill. : ) Can’t wait until their wedding in May!
This “Tuesdays with Eli” is a little different from the blogs in the past. I wanted to give you guys just a little taste of where I have came from. I started in the wedding industry shooting wedding videos. This was a few years ago, technology has changed rapidly since. I have a confession to make, even though I am a full time wedding photographer, I still have a love for video. Can’t a guy have two loves? Haha. I do believe that there is something timeless about photographs. Something that a video can’t emulate, this is why I am a photographer. I just wanted to share this little “date story” with you guys. Not sure if I will do any more of these, I guess that depends if anyone is interested or not. : ) I actually shot this about 6 months ago, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with it at the time, I knew I just wanted to shoot it. It went down just like my engagement sessions. We spent a couple hours together hanging out, and taking photos. The couple in this video are actually my sister and brother in law. They tied the knot in November of 2005. Elana has been super supportive of me and my business since the beginning. Before I even knew what I wanted to do, she trusted me with her wedding photos before I was a photographer. Nick has helped me out so many times when I’ve been in a pinch. Supportive family and encouraging people around me, are the reason I am where I am today. I thank God for blessing me and people around me for extending their help.
I hope you liked my little video. Just to clarify, I am not a wedding videographer. I encourage you to look into having a videographer for your wedding, I know many great videographers I can refer you to. I only shared this video because at the moment, I can do this. Not your wedding day, just an addition to the engagement session.
Here’s the technical stuff. I shot this with a Nikon D90 and a couple prime lenses. I used a Glidecam 2000 Pro to steady the shots. I spent about 1/2 an hour editing this together. I just picked a few of my favorite shots and threw them together. Now that I have shot one of these “Engagement Videos/Date Story” I have an idea of what I want to do next time.
Leave me some love at let me know what you think. All you videographers, be easy on me. I’m just a photographer. Haha
I really do have some of the greatest clients. I’m always telling myself how thankful I am that I’ve been blessed with awesome clients that love my style of photography and match my easy going personality. Last Saturday I was scheduled to shoot Danielle & Jordan’s engagement photos, little did we know at the time of planning, that Arkansas weather would have other plans in mind. The snow, sleet, and icy roads didn’t stop us though. Jordan & Danielle may have needed just a little bit of convincing and I did have to pick them up because they couldn’t get out of there driveway. But I know that once we made it out, they were very happy that we stayed with our decision to shoot on Saturday. The snowy white scenery made for a super unique setting. It was very cold, don’t get me wrong, but we may not get another snow day like this here and I knew I couldn’t pass up this opportunity. My back-up plan if Danielle and Jordan wanted to re-schedule, was to brave the weather anyways and shoot some portraits of Leslie & I, but when I was telling Danielle this, she reminded me that she was no stranger to cameras. You see Danielle & Jordan both have backgrounds in production and photography, and they were more than happy to take a few photos of Les & I in the snow. More on that tomorrow – “Tuesday with Eli Post”
So here are Danielle & Jordan’s engagements. Enjoy!
Kele found me at the Kiss the Brides Expo at the Verizon Arena. After Kele and Jonathan Luigs get married, they are moving to Cincinnati where Jonathan is going to play pro football for the Cincinnati Bengals. You may have heard Jonathan’s name before, he played for the Arkansas Razorbacks and won a few awards. I wish I was a little more football savy I could probably tell you more, I’m just happy to take some pictures of a football celebrity. Unfortunately I don’t know much about the sport, but I do know that it is pretty cool that he is going to play pro. They were a great couple and have great chemisty. It was beautiful weather when we shot these photos. We met up at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. I also had some great help help from my good friend Mark with Roxy Creative. You can see more of their photos there. I am very excited to photograph their wedding in February. Congratulations you guys, thanks for falling in love and giving me a call.
